Perth Cabaret Collective to represent WA in Melbourne
The good news is that homegrown awarding-winning entertainers Perth Cabaret Collective has been invited to perform at the prestigious Melbourne Cabaret Festival in June. The bad news is that they might not be able to afford to go.
Perth Cabaret Collective Founding Director Jess Herbert says that sending 16 people to Melbourne to perform is a dream come true but beyond their budget.
“The term ‘struggling artist’ is real,” Jess says with a smile.
“We are beyond thrilled to be invited to perform alongside esteemed national and international performance groups, but you can imagine the expense of sending a nine-piece jazz band with instruments, two singers and five showgirls to Melbourne.”
A Go Fund Me page has been set up to assist the troupe and their goal is to raise $12,000.
“We’re looking for support from benefactors to help us take the next step in our performance careers and we want to show Melbourne the talent that comes from WA. We’re all passionately proud to be West Australian.
“We could even perform at private events by way of thanks for donations over $2,000.”
Perth Cabaret Collective is Western Australia’s most successful cabaret troupe taking out Fringeworld awards every year since 2015 including ‘Best WA Cabaret’ four times.
Perth Cabaret Collective are performing GLAMOURPUSS at Fringeworld from February 11 to 16, described as a splendid blend of 1950s big band jazz and a Vegas-style show mixed with recognisable showtunes including a Can-Can and plenty of “Rat Pack” repertoire.
The Melbourne Cabaret Festival will be held from June 19 to 30 and celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, attracting performers from around Australia and overseas.
