Early bird tickets are on sale now for the Ord Valley Muster in Kununurra, northwest Western Australia, from 11 to 20 May 2018, making it the perfect last minute Christmas present (just print at home and write a lovely card!).
Event-goers can save almost 20 per cent with the new Muster Double that includes general admission to the hallmark event, the Aviair HeliSpirit Kimberley Moon Experience and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow that will be held in a new venue in 2018, the official Muster Festival Hub at the Jim Hughes Amphitheatre.
The black-tie Kimberley Fine Diamonds Dinner at the Kimberley Moon Experience is the Kimberley’s most prestigious and lavish event of the year and includes riverboat transfers, exclusive dance floor and champagne, canapés and a full sit-down multi-course dinner under the stars – limited tables of ten and twelve available.
Country music rock royalty Lee Kernaghan OAM will headline the Aviair HeliSpirit Kimberley Moon Experience with The Cat Empire.
Lee, the 2008 Australian of the Year, has achieved a staggering 37 number one chart hits, has been awarded 36 Golden Guitars, named Hit Maker of the Decade, twice, in 2001 and 2011, which is an accolade in recognition of having more chart hits in Australia than any other country music artist in the world.
Lee invigorated Australian Country Music synthesising traditional country themes with his own brand of rural rock, creating songs that have become Australian anthems such as The Outback Club, Boys from The Bush, Hat Town, She’s My Ute and Australian Boy.
His Pass the Hat Around Australia Tours, Spirit of The Bush and Farmhand concerts have raised millions of dollars for drought, flood and bushfire relief, hospitals, schools, ambulance and volunteer organisations nation-wide.
Known as a passionate supporter of regional Australia, Lee is likely to be hugely popular with the Kimberley locals and visitors alike and he said couldn’t wait to get to Kununurra.
“To think that there’s a country rodeo, the comedy festival, the culinary offerings with the indigenous food and arts and dance ... I think the Ord Valley Muster should be on everyone's bucket list to go at least once,” Lee said.
“The black tie dinner and the Kimberley Moon that we'll be playing on the 19thMay will be great - there'll be stars in the sky but there'll be plenty of stars there on the ground as well - everybody who turns up is a legend.”
Joining Lee at the Muster’s biggest party is firm summertime favourite The Cat Empire.
This Melbourne born band is now world renown for a live show that never fails to deliver in the melody-driven-joyful-dancing stakes. With a slew of awards and multiplatinum albums to their name, and well over 1200 shows under their belts, their journey as musicians has been spectacular.
What makes The Cat Empire truly unique is their prowess as musicians. Starting their career in Melbourne Jazz clubs, and honing their chops on festival stages throughout the world, The Cat Empire is a very tight musical outfit of truly gifted musicians. The music they create is uniquely their own, as is their infectious, dance-inducing live show.
"We’re really excited to be heading to Kununurra to play at the Kimberley Moon. From all reports it’s a pretty amazing night. I haven’t spent much time in the Kimberley, so hopefully I can see a bit more of the country and meet some of the local community while I’m there this time,” said The Cat Empire front man Felix Riebl.
Since its inception 18 years ago, Australia’s biggest artists including Jimmy Barnes, Paul Kelly, Bernard Fanning, Daryl Braithwaite, Guy Sebastian and Eskimo Joe have headlined the Kimberley Moon Experience.
Early bird ticket prices will run until 12 February 2018 or until the allocation is exhausted. The Muster Double is on sale until the allocation is exhausted.
Travel packages with flights from Perth start from $1,210 per person including accommodation, transfers, event tickets and tour options. Self-drive packages from Broome start from $524 per person including accommodation, transfers and event tickets.
Ord Valley Events Chairman Narelle Brook encouraged event goers to take advantage of the early bird prices and Muster Double tickets before they sell out.
“Every year the Ord Valley Muster rewards locals and thousands of visitors from around the country and overseas with a spectacular festival earning itself a reputation as a ‘must-attend’ on the national social calendar,” Narelle said.
“It’s held in Western Australia’s most remote yet most captivating region – the country is simply breath-taking and has such a connecting force that everyone who experiences it is truly touched by the magic of it.”
Set against the magnificent backdrop of the Ord Valley, Lake Kununurra, spectacular fresh water gorges, national parks and stunning reserves, the Muster rewards visitors with magical and distinctive experiences.
The host town Kununurra is situated some 800 kilometres from Darwin and more than 3,000 kilometres from Perth.
The Ord Valley Muster is a nine-time Festival and Events winner at the WA Tourism Awards, inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Kimberley Moon Experience in 2008.
The Aviair HeliSpirt Kimberley Moon Experience concert will be held on Saturday 19th May 2018 at the Jim Hughes Amphitheatre on the banks of the Ord River.
