Jordan Bruno, who was recently crowned Mr Gay Pride Australia, will be the MC for the inaugural Margi Gras proudly sponsored by The River Hotel, held in Margaret River on 10 February 2018.
Jordan is a LGBTI Activist and Ambassador and was instrumental in the Yes campaign in the lead up to the same sex marriage plebiscite. His passion is so intense that when the majority of Australians said yes, Jordan tattooed the date and six coloured hearts onto the inside of his forearm so to never forget that moment.
Known and loved across Australia for his endearing relationship with his mum Anna while they both competed in MKR 2016 cooking show finishing as semi-finalists, Jordan’s other passions include food and Western Australia.
“I’m proud to be Western Australian and proud to be queer – Margi Gras is combining two of my passions into one great event. Plus I’ll be in Margaret River surrounded by beautiful food,” the 25-year-old said.
“Margaret River is such a stunning region, one I’m immensely fond of and it’s great that there’s a regional event for the LGBTI community – it promotes the region as a gay tourist destination and a place that welcomes same sex weddings.
“I’m proud to support the inaugural Margi Gras and I think it’s important that towns around the region get behind it.
“I think before long people will be flying in from all over the world to go to Margi Gras.”
Margi Gras Founder Rebecca Hannan, who will marry her long-term partner Sunny Michelle Hannan at Margi Gras, said that Jordan was the perfect MC for the inaugural event.
“Jordan’s passion is evident in everything he does and he is such a great fit for Margi Gras,” Rebecca said.
Further announcements about the Margi Gras line up coming soon.
The headline act for Margi Gras is a fabulous troupe of five from Perth Drag Queens who have never performed in Margaret River and will only be performing for Margi Gras in a free family friendly performance at the event, and a more risqué show at the ticketed Margi Gras After Party at The River Hotel.
Margi Gras is a free inclusive event that celebrates equality for everyone and will be held on 10 February 2018 from 5pm to 8pm on the lawns between the Augusta Margaret River Shire offices and the Cultural Centre on Wallcliffe Road.
Tickets to the Margi Gras After Party at The River Hotel are $25 + booking fee and are selling fast.
Margi Gras will include music, entertainment, drag queens, cool cars and Western Australia’s first public legally-binding same sex marriage.
