The tender for the construction and operation for a new eatery on the Dunsborough Foreshore has been awarded to the Margaret River Hospitality Group (MRHG).
The City of Busselton announced last week that the MRHG was chosen as the preferred lease-holder of the Crown land site as a result of a tender process which began in August 2014.
MRHG Partner Anthony Janssen said that the foreshore café would be similar to another venue owned by the Group, the White Elephant Beach Café on Gnarabup Beach.
“We have a proven track record with the White Elephant Beach Café and we are very much looking forward to bringing our hospitality focussed ethos and culture to Dunsborough,” Janssen said.
“The café footprint will be quite small, 200 square metres, which will seat about 90 people inside about 40 people outside.
“Just like the White Elephant, the environment is top of mind when it comes to the design and construction of the new café.
“We expect to build a basic skillion structure using as much natural material as possible.
“Given the small footprint, the building will blend in to the natural surrounds and have as little visual and environmental impact as possible - the emphasis will be on the location and the design will take advantage of the northerly aspect.” Read more...
