Hat trick! Mundella named Australia's best
Perth, Western Australia: Mundella Greek Natural Yoghurt has been crowned Australia’s Champion Natural Yogurt in the 2017 Australian Grand Dairy Awards for the third year running.
The Mundijong-based dairy was last inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016 and has won the prestigious title eight times in the past 10 years.
Now in its 18th year, the Australian Grand Dairy Awards is effectively the grand final of Australian dairy industry, open only to products that have previously won gold at qualifying state-based shows throughout the year.
Chief Judge Russell Smith said Mundella Greek Natural Yoghurt had a superb smooth creamy texture.
“A consistently well-balanced yoghurt, this superbly smooth and creamy product reflects the high quality of the milk used in its manufacture. The clean and fresh flavours have once again impressed the judges. What a great way to start and end your day!”
Peter James, General Manager at Mundella Foods, said the honour of being crowned the Champion Natural Yogurt three years running is a testament to the company’s dedication for dairy products of highest standard.
“To make the highest quality yoghurt, you need the highest quality milk and that’s what our Western Australian farmers provide, most within 20km radius of our factory,” James said.
“Mundella Natural Yoghurt was also a finalist in the same category, but it’s the culture that makes the Greek Natural Yoghurt especially good.”
“We are honoured and very excited to have won this prestigious prize again. It’s fantastic that the amazing work of the Mundella team has again been recognised and rewarded by the dairy industry.

There were 60 finalists in this year’s Australian Grand Dairy Awards across 20 different classes. Champions were decided after a rigorous and highly technical judging process by an expert team. Each product was tasted, tested and assessed for flavour, aroma, body, texture, colour and appearance to identify the highest scoring products.
Thanks to this latest win, the Mundella Greek Natural Yoghurt can now proudly feature the exclusive Australian Grand Dairy Awards medal on its packaging so that all Australians can instantly identify a champion when they see – and taste – one.
