The ‘Wayne Train’ first left the station at a rapid rate when he was just 15 years of age, and Wayne Maxwell hasn’t slowed down since.
After cutting his teeth in dirt track and motocross, the reigning Australian Superbike champion has been one of the fastest men in two-wheel road racing in this country for many years, whether it be riding for Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki and now Yamaha.
Maxwell came so close to glory for so many years that few would have begrudged him his maiden title in 2013 at age 31, and his results since have him and plenty of others believing that he’s only getting faster. “I have so much motivation because I wasted 10 years,” he told Australian Motorcycle News last year.
Maxwell has spread his wings in international series as well, racing for the Yamaha Austria Racing Team in the FIM Endurance World Championship in 2014, and he had a Moto2 appearance at Phillip Island as a wildcard in 2010 that ended in controversial circumstances when he was taken out on the first lap.
Fast, outspoken and forthright, Maxwell’s sheer passion for all things motorsport makes him the perfect addition to the Perth Speed Fest line-up.
Maxwell said that he couldn’t wait to get to the Perth Speed Fest.
“I am super excited to be involved in Perth Speed Fest; I am a massive fan of all things motorsport, so to be able to see all breeds of motorsport from road cars to pure breed racing machines in one place is just awesome," Maxwell said.
Perth Speed Fest is a spectacular, adrenaline-fuelled, action-packed day of race cars and super stars that will be held on Sunday 13 December 2015 at Perth Motorplex.
V8 Supercar driver Will Davison, MotoGP rider Jack Miller, Formula 1 royalty Alan Jones and V8 pit lane reporter, Perth’s own Riana Crehan are just some of the big names joining Maxwell and F1 star Daniel Ricciardo at Perth Speed Fest.
Perth Speed Fest Event Producer Emma Stenhouse said that Perth Motorplex is a fantastic venue to showcase this wide range of motorsport.
"There will be non-stop action all day that includes racing and demonstrations of motorcross, rallying, bikes, drags, and V8s alongside a huge showcase of historic, classic and majestic cars," Ms Stenhouse said.
