Construction for a new brewery, Shelter Brewing Co, has commenced on the Busselton Foreshore opposite the iconic Busselton Jetty in Western Australia’s south west.
Turning the first sod today were the brewery’s directors Zeb Packard-Hair and Jason Credaro along with the City of Busselton Mayor Grant Henley.
Shelter Brewing Co Director Zeb Packard-Hair said that it was exciting to get construction underway.
“Our first goal is to build a world-class venue in an iconic location on time and on budget and we expect doors to open in Spring 2020,” Packard-Hair said.
The construction of Shelter Brewing Co will feature corrugated Corten cladding on the external walls and roof designed to rust over time to form a protective layer and earthy appearance, floor to ceiling glass external wall to showcase the main brewery, indoor trees in the restaurant area, a first floor multi-function room, an outdoor area for kids to play and a beer garden with jetty views. It will also include the use of solar power and other green energy sources during the build.
The architecture is centred around the working brewing which is open and forms part of the venue.
Shelter Brewing Co Director and Head Brewer Jason Credaro said that the brewery would be family-friendly and provide a high-quality offering yet always remain approachable.
“Shelter Brewing Co will be a place for locals and visitors to get together over a good beer in a great venue with an incredible view,” Credaro said.
“We want to create a place and an experience that captures the essence of Busselton’s relaxed beachside community and lifestyle.”
Shelter Brewing Co is a joint venture between the Credaro brothers Jason, Matt, Chris and Mike and Packard-Hair brothers Zeb and Asher, all fourth generation locals.
City of Busselton Mayor Grant Henley said the development will add significant value to the foreshore experience for locals and tourists.
“A family-style café or restaurant showcasing local food and beverages was always a feature of the Busselton Foreshore Masterplan,” the Mayor said.
“This development will bring additional vibrancy to the area and create jobs for locals both during construction and as an ongoing concern. Today’s sod turning marks an important milestone in the Busselton Foreshore redevelopment and I wish the proprietors all the best.”
Further details of Shelter Brewing Co including beer production will be released in due course.
