About 100 competitors in classic and modern machines will compete in the GT Fabrication Targa Bunbury Sprint held from 24 to 25 June 2017.
Event Director Ross Tapper said that the Bunbury city centre would come alive with the colour and noise of tarmac rallying as competitors take to the street on Sunday 25 June.
“The street circuit will be exciting for competitors, spectators and local businesses as Mustangs, Chevrolets and Porches as well as some nostalgic Datsuns, Minis, Escorts and Toranas race the clock,” Tapper said.
“Spectators can get up close to the cars during the Shannons Show ‘n’ Shine held along Victoria Street on Saturday 24 June from 5.30pm.”
The service park is free and located on McCombe Road near the junction of Gibbons Road. Spectators are encouraged and only permitted in marked spectators areas:
- Corner Halifax Drive and Monkhouse Street
- Corner of Hensen Street and Marchant Street
- Corner of Halifax Drive and Clifford Street,
- Corner of McCombe Road and Sherlock Way
- Corner of McCombe Road and Jordan Way
Tapper said Rallysprint was a great way to enjoy competitive motorsport without the time commitment and expense required in the traditional rally format.
“Rallysprint is fast, fun and great for those new to rallying as well as those more experienced who want to keep their skills honed. Rallysprint requires team work between driver and co-driver and the ability to drive with obstacles in close vicinity of the road, neither of which can be practised on a race track,” Tapper said.
The GT Fabrication Targa Bunbury Sprint is the next Tarmac Rallysprint on the 2017 Quit Targa Cup calendar.
“We have expanded our event portfolio and with the addition of a Western Australia tarmac rally series the WA Quit Targa Cup and the continued support from sponsors Healthway and Shannons Insurance, we’re confident of another fantastic year,” Tapper said.
